The Fine Sale
The Fine Sale brings together many collecting areas, from Antiquity through the early 20th century, and includes property from several noteworthy and interesting collections. A fine group of British Portraiture and Old Master paintings includes works by Peter Lely and the studio of Joshua Reynolds, as well as a nice collection of Old Master prints by Dürer and Rembrandt, and a collection of 18th and 19th century architectural drawings.
We are very pleased to be offering selections from the collection of renowned Egyptologist William Kelly Simpson including rare drawings by Howard Carter and Edward Lear, as well as a fine group of works on paper by Les Nabis.
The first in a series of offerings from the collection of the late New York City dealer and collector Elaine G. Weitzen will also be included. Highlights from this collection include a fine group of paintings and works on paper by Richard Haley Lever and Herman Rose. As a tribute to Mrs. Weitzen’s life-long passion for the arts and philanthropy, her collection is being sold to benefit The Elaine G. Weitzen Foundation for Fine Arts.
Several interesting collections are represented in the areas of Furniture and Decorations including property from the estate of renowned jewelry designer Fred Leighton, and property from homes designed by Bunny Williams and Tom Britt. A fine selection of 18th and 19th century English and Continental furniture, and a large and impressive collection of Meissen round out the offerings.
