OF MANKIND"
Bronze, 27 x 7 1/4 x 7 1/4 in., with foundry mark Alexis
Rucher, Paris. Note: In 1929 Hoffman was commissioned by
the Field Museum in Chicago to complete figures representing
the races of man and their nationalities. She traveled the
world seeking models, and by 1935 she had completed 104 full
figures cast in bronze.

Oil on canvas, relined, 36 x 56 in., signed. Note: Born
in Maine, Butman was one of the first artists to travel and
paint in California. He exhibited the earliest known paintings
of Yosemite. His favorite subjects included the Columbia
River, The High Sierras, Mt. Shasta, Mt. Hood and Lake Tahoe.
Back East he was also known for his paintings of the Androscoggin
and Bear Rivers and the Presidential Range.
