Oil on masonite, 69 1/2 x 48 in., signed and dated 53 at lower edge. Note: Schneebaum, the recipient of 2 Yaddo fellowships and 2 Fulbright fellowships, and student of Rufino Tamayo is best known for his disappearance into the depths of the Peruvian Amazon. He emerged from the jungle after a year, naked and covered in body paint, having lived and loved with a tribe of cannibals. He published 2 books about the experience: "Keep the River on Your Right" and "Where the Spirits Dwell: An Odyssey in the Jungle of New Guinea."
