Worked with rosettes within tulip surrounds, the
border worked with displayed eagles tiered buildings,
masonic symbols, stars, "E. Pluribus Umum" & signed
twice Evert Deyo. approx. 7 Ft. 2 3/4 in. x 6 Ft. 4
in. NOTE: Everett Deyo (1795-1874) was a direct
descendent of Christian Deyo (ca. 1610-1687), a
French Huguenot who immigrated to America in 1675 to
avoid religious persecution in France. Christian Deyo
was one of the 12 original men representing a small
group of Huguenot immigrants to purchase land in 1677
from the Esopus Indians. What was then known as the
New Paltz Patent is today the village of New Paltz,
in Ulster County, New York.
