Invoice:
You will receive an email at the conclusion of the sale with your invoice and next steps for payment and collection of your property. Your invoice is also available in your online account. For our bidders that bid successfully through LiveAuctioneers (LA), you will receive an invoice directly from LA at the conclusion of the sale. LA buyers must pay for purchases through LA (via credit card or ACH – there is an additional charge for each payment method) and arrange for shipping or collection through LA. Please refer to LA’s Terms and Conditions for a full understanding of what is required when you bid, pay and ship through LA. STAIR is not responsible for, and has no control over, LA’s Terms and Conditions and encourages you to familiarize yourself with their Terms and Conditions.
Invoice Details:
Payment for all purchases is due immediately. Your STAIR invoice will include the successful hammer price of each item, buyer’s premium for each item, and sales tax, if applicable. STAIR charges a buyer’s premium of 31% on the hammer price of a lot up to $50,000. For any hammer price exceeding $50,000, the buyer’s premium is 25% on the portion that exceeds $50,000 (“STAIR BP”). If you successfully bid through a third-party online bidding platform, any additional premium charged by the third-party online bidding platform through which you successfully bid on the lot is added to the STAIR BP. Sales tax, if applicable, is charged on the hammer price and buyer’s premium.
Payment Methods:
Payment for your invoice can be made by major credit card (for payments up to $40,000), wire transfer, ACH, check or cash (up to $9,999). Please contact STAIR at 518.751.1000 or postsale@stairgalleries.com for bank details if you wish to pay via wire transfer or ACH. Checks should be made payable to Stair Galleries and Restoration, Inc. and mailed to 549 Warren Street, Hudson, New York 12534. For check payments, STAIR reserves the right to release your property after your check has cleared the bank. Please refer to LA’s Terms and Conditions for accepted payment methods if you bid successfully through LA.
Property Pick-Ups and Shipments:
Property collected from STAIR in Hudson, NY, either by the purchaser, or any individual or company (that is not a registered shipper) that has been authorized to collect on the purchaser’s behalf, is subject to sales tax at the combined New York State and Columbia County rate of 8%. Please select ‘PickUp’ when paying your invoice. If the property is collected by a registered shipper, the shipping address on your auction invoice must match the destination on your shipper’s bill of lading. If the property is delivered to a state in which STAIR is registered, we are required to collect the appropriate sales tax in effect in the jurisdiction where the property is delivered. If the property is delivered to a state where Stair is not required to collect sales tax, it is the responsibility of the purchaser to self-assess any sales or use tax and remit it to taxing authorities in that state. Purchasers will be exempted from sales tax upon receipt of a valid NYS ST-120 (Resale Certificate).
