From the Estate of J. Hyde Crawford, Jr., Bellport, New York

We are pleased to have on offer another collection of furniture, decorations and art from the Estate of John Crawford, or “Jay” as he was affectionately known, in our upcoming November 14th Exposition auction. A well-known fashion illustrator, most notably for the re-design of Bonwit Teller’s violet bouquet logo, Jay was also the co-founder and long-time co-owner, along with Anthony Tortora, of the mega-wallpaper and fabric company Quadrille.
The different avenues through which Jay’s sense of style radiated, were vast. Whether it was drawing for fashion, designing patterns for wallpaper and fabric, or decorating the spaces in which he lived and worked, it was always clear that he had a bold, yet comfortable, eye. The group of more than ninety additional pieces Stair Galleries will be offering on November 14th (Lots 1 – 93), from his Bellport, New York home, continues to demonstrate this fact. We hope you will join us. Click here to view sale information and full catalogue. > Further Reading:
