Works from the Stern Family Collection in The Fine Sale
With a discerning eye for detail since childhood, Miriam Stern, with husband Howard (Bud), became a thoughtful collector of design, decoration and fine art. As the principle of Miriam Stern Interiors, and through her work as a longtime researcher at The American Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Mrs. Stern fine-tuned that passion, curating a fine collection in her two carefully restored and decorated homes. The interiors of both residences reflected Mrs. Stern’s eye for quality and connoisseurship, as did the buildings she and her husband chose to live in. One of their homes was in a J.E.R. Carpenter building on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Their other home was an Aymar Embury designed home in Remsenburg, New York. Embury was well known for having designed many of the buildings in Central Park, including the Central Park Zoo.
