Born into a family of artists, Harry Veit inherited a love of beautiful things and an appreciation for the creative process from his father and grandfather, amassing a collection of fine art, objects and decorations over decades and displaying them in his country home in bucolic Lyme, CT.  His keen eye and connoisseurship led him to acquire works that complemented those by his grandfather, esteemed Orientalist painter Maurice Bompard.   Asian works of art, furniture, sculpture, textiles  and books were stylishly displayed in his home which was left, upon his death, to his dear friend Donald Millerbernd. Millerbernd, who was a connoisseur and collector in his own right, added to the Veit collection with his own acquisitions, creating a legacy that honors both men.
