Highlighting our December 8th auction are eclectic and interesting collections of 20th century fine art and sculpture from New York City dealer and collector Elaine G. Weitzen, and collector and renowned Egyptologist William Kelly Simpson. Highlights from the Weitzen collection include works by Mark Tobey, Charles Seliger, Willem de Kooning and Michael Goldberg. Mrs. Weitzen was a long-time supporter of the Sculpture Center and Sculpture Key West and her collection includes works by George Rickey, Jesus Raphael Soto, John Newman and Ronald Bladen. Mr. Simpson collected across all genres and styles. 20th century works from his collection include a rare ballet costume design by Anatoli Petrinky, set designs by Eugene Berman, and works on paper by Raoul Dufy and Robert Wilson. Other highlights in the sale include a small ink drawing by Pablo Picasso, a fine selection of works on paper by American mid-century modernists, works by Jim Dine, Robert Rauschenberg, Tom Wesselmann, and a curated selection of photography.
